Nerve Conduction Studies and Electromyography

Nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyography (EMG) studies are tests to examine nerve and muscle function. These tests are done through Western Neurology at both our surgery within the QE Specialist Centre (Dr Jessica Hafner) and also on Level 5 of the the Main Tower Block at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Drs Martin Robinson & Grant Purdie). Botulinum Toxin Treatment for Neurological Disorders

Botulinum toxin can be used to treat a number of different neurological conditions, including cervical dystonia (also called spasmodic torticollis), blepharospasm (involuntary closure of the eyes), hemifacial spasm (involuntary movement of one half of the face), migraine, axillary hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) and spasticity. Access to this treatment through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) is governed by strict clinical criteria. Therefore, this treatment is only available after clinical consultation and assessment by Dr Yi-Zhong Zhuang. You will require a referral from your doctor to see Dr Zhuang to assess whether you are eligible for botulinum toxin treatment.
